OpenCPN is free software distributed under the GPLv2 license. It was created with the aim of guiding ships in different sizes and types of maritime waters. We initially tested the program under real conditions with a group of seafarers before improving it and making sure shortcomings are fixed. Even pre-processing of navigation can be done in addition to navigation.plan routes.
During the use of the program, it is possible to track the current, speed and direction of the vessel, as well as to determine their relative position on the map and how fast and slow they will travel. Information about ships nearby is received on the radio line as well as course information. In case of system failure, a planned flight would be conducted using the GPS. Cards for OpenCPN are free and available for download on the official website.
While the vessel is in motion, you can select a new map and display it with the required resolution and detail. An external autopilot must be submitted to the routes and waypoints before being able to begin use. It is worth noting that there are many useful components of the program.
- BSB support, C-MAP and S-Vector maps of ENC 57; 53 ENC 51.
- AIS decoding;
- A possible way to use NMEA and GPS services.
- A manual process; autopilots opanies; automatic navigation and autopilot;
- There is a multilingual support.
