Borland Database Engine & mdash; This set of library libraries is designed for projects that create applications from Delphi, C++ Builder, or Paradox, dBASE, FoxPro, MS Access databases. Additionally, external ODBC drivers are available for connecting to and using Microsoft Access and other databases, as well as through SQL Links.
The BDE work is referred to by simple language as an intermediary that between the program and the database; when we talk about using it, it sends last commands to extract or change data, allowing us to see what's going on. Additionally to the main libraries set that include support for queries, sorting, and translation, this package includes the following utilities: for connecting and configuring databases & mdash; The Data Pump utility facilitates data transfer between databases and BDE administrator.
The development of the system ended in 1999, and in 2002 Borland company completely stopped supporting and further using Borland Database Engine, that's why it will not work in most modern systems (especially in 64-bit Windows).
