What's New in Sisulizer 2008
In this new version, Sisulizer 2008 improves your localization
experience. Here is a list of the most important changes in Version
2008:
Platforms
Advanced .NET Platform Support
- WPF/XAML support has been
implemented.
- Support for .NET 3.0 and .NET
3.5.
- Better support for the FlowLayoutPanel.FlowDirection
property has been added.
- Assembly linker parameters
can be given in a solution source per project.
- Output directory can be given
in a solution source per source so all output files of all projects
are written into the same output file.
- Items in the .resx can be shown sorted
(default) or unsorted on the project.
- Embedded XML, HTML, images, and binary
resources are localized. An embedded resource is a
file that is stored as raw data instead of being embedded into
a .resources file.
- Resource data can be handled as combined
strings, XML, or HTML in addition to plain text, images,
and binary data.
- Importing existing translations has been improved.
Now you can import from existing localized resource
files (.resx) and satellite assembly files
(.resources.dll) to a .NET project, solution or assembly source.
- Support for System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripContainer
control added.
- Localization of LinkLabel.LinkArea added.
- Sisulizer can now show WPF form that belong to an assembly or project by clicking
Run original or Run localized button on the form editor's tool
bar. This helps you to check the exact visual appearance of
the localized WPF form.
- Layout panels do layout more precisely for Windows forms.
New Platforms
- Support for Visual Studio 2008.
- Support for nRes's resource file format
has been added.
- Support for Microsoft Access 2007
(.accdb) has been added.
- Visual report localization support has been
added for Ace Reporter and ReportBuilder.
- FastReport 4.0 components
have been mapped
- Support for WebHelp format
was added.
- Support for Firebird database
has been added. Sisulizer can import data from Firebird, localize
Firebird tables, and store translation memory on a Firebird
database.
- Localization of TMX files
has been implemented.
Improved Platform Support
- .po files can now also be
used as original files instead of .pot files.
- Support for building .mo files (binary
.po)
- You can now specify a project file
together with a DRC file for Delphi binaries to make
sure that the unit and resource string names are correct if
you use '_' characters in those names.
- LaMenu.pas unit added that
makes short cuts multilingual for Delphi (VCL).
- Sisulizer can scan RT_HTML
data of Windows binaries as HTML.
- Scanning of the HTML style attribute
in an IMG tag has been added. This feature is needed to localize,
for example, picture menus in online help files.
- Scanning of the HTML title attribute
in an area scan has been added.
- The title and accesskey
attributes of the HTML input element are scanned. An example
is: <INPUT type="button" value="Click"
title="Alt + C" accesskey="C">.
- Attributes of embedded
HTML tags are now editable. Just click
the '+' sign to start editing.
- The look and feel of Vista dialog boxes
has been improved.
- Combined string support has
been added to database localization.
- Better support for JSP has
been implemented, and JSP samples have been added.
- Sisulizer supports quoted
and escaped strings in .ini
files.
- Visual support has been implemented for Classic
VB MSComctlLib.TabStrip and TabDlg.SSTab
controls.
- FILEDATA items in Windows
RC files are scanned and can be translated. You can
also exclude them from the build .rc file.
- You can specify multiple header files
(*.h) and resource files (*.rc) for Visual C++
binaries.
- You can now translate the Style
and ExStyle properties of Windows dialog boxes
and controls for C++ binaries. By default,
those properties are not scanned. You can turn scanning on by
right-clicking a control and selecting Custom Scanning >
Style or Extended Style.
- You can now choose the update method
of Windows resources. Possible values are: Auto,
Windows, and Custom. Auto works like it
used to. If the generated EXEs of DLLs are invalid, you can
try Windows or Custom.
- By default, the text of spin controls
are ignored during the scanning process of Visual C++
sources. There is, however, an option that can be set to enable
scanning.
- Include and exclude tags editing
have been added to the Visual Basic source.
- The Row id localization method
for databases no longer requires the resource
id field to have a foreign key.
- OLE DB and password support
have been added to Access database functionality.
- IBO Delphi components have
been mapped.
- Sisulizer detects wide string usage
automatically when creating a new project or adding
a new source.
- Scanning of Windows RC files has been optimized.
- All STRINGTABLE rows in a RC file are located
on a single folder.
- #include directives of RC
files can be scanned.
- Line comment and block
comment features added to text file localization.
- Text filter warns if duplicate keys
(context elements) are found.
Improved User Interface
Screen
Shot: Filter |
Sisulizer's text filter work on context,
original string, and translation. The filters work including, and excluding,
great for searching inconsistent translations. Search case-sensitive,
for whole words, or with wildcards. You can save your custom set of
filters for easy access in your localization project.

|
- You can
name a set of filter settings and re-use them.
- Each filter setting set will be saved to an history and you can go back and
forth.
- Three ways to spell check: batch
mode, live (new in V2008), and interactive
(new in V2008).
- Sisulizer now supports three spell
checking engines: Polar, Hunspell (dictionaries for
nearly 80 languages can be downloaded for free, new in V2008),
and Lingsoft (specialized on nordic languages, must be purchased
separately, new in V2008).
Screen

The new live spell check is smart, and
filters accellerators before spell checking. So you don't get much false
positives, and do not need to add nonsense to your dictionary

|
- Live
spell check. In addition
to the existing spell checker in batch mode Sisulizer now also
supports spell checking while you type. (More)
- Live grammar check for Danish, Finnish, both
Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk) and Swedish if Lingsoft grammar
checker is installed (Lingsoft software must be purchased
separately). (More)
- Czech, Slovak,
Italian, and Norwegian (Bokmål)
translations have been added.
- There is a new Refresh Filter
that refreshes the rows on a sheet. For example, you can use
this feature if you have edited a row and the properties need
to be refreshed.
- If you right-click the form editor, you now
see a new menu called Browse Components. This
menu shows all components and their properties on a single dialog
box.
- If you toggle the sort order
of a column, Sisulizer does not lose your previous selection.
- Multi-select rows has been
added on the Excluded Rows dialog box.
- The Excluded Originals dialog box now
has multi-select properties.
- Excluded string properties
are visible on form editor.
- You can use the Shift+Del
keyboard shortcut to exclude rows.
- Shortcuts are also visible
on popup menus.
- Grid settings in the form
editor are saved.
- You can use the Whole words only
option on the Find, Replace, and Filter
dialog boxes.
- You can remove duplicate translations
from the translation memory using the Select Translation
dialog box.
- Find and Filter Text: The Accept
wild chars option is new. If checked, the * and ? characters
are handled as wild characters.
- The items of .NET's resource files (not forms)
can be shown also in the original order instead
of sorting them.
- Wild card (for example, *.resx)
sources no longer contain subdirectories that contain no matching
files.
- Each section of the .ini file
can be added to the project tree for faster
browsing.
- The Windows key on the keyboard
launches a popup menu (on a translation sheet,
on a project tree, and so forth).
- When adding .resx file or
files to Sisulizer project the form or strings
are now in the file node instead of inside
a folder.
- Some user interface components have been polished.
- Rows can be filtered by comments.
- Rows can be marked.
- Auto-complete added to all
file and directory edits.
- Output history lines have been organized
into groups.
Better Usability
- You can select an alternative original
language (=any language in the project). The selected
language is used instead of the original on the sheet and WYSIWYG
editors. This functionality helps to translate from any other
language than the original language (relay translation).
Click Project > Options to select an alternative original
language.
- The ability to activate IME and keyboards
automatically and then select a translation column
has been saved in a general setting. When you create a new project,
these settings are remembered.
- If one language of the project already contains
pseudo translation, these settings are used
as the default value for pseudo translation in other languages
in the project.
- Block exclude tags have been
added to source code localization.
- Importing by context from text
and Excel files has been implemented.
- If a row is set to Do not translate,
all of its translations have Complete statuses.
- The building of localized source code file
has been optimized. Building is now a lot faster.
- Even translations that are exactly the same
as the originals are taken into clipped text validation.
- In Project Wizard, you can select a directory
to be localized even if the root directory does not contain
any file types that you want to localize (the root directory
only contains subdirectories).
- You can customize auto translation
to work with identical context only. For example, if you want
to auto translate the same dialog box elements elsewhere in
the project, open the General Settings dialog boxes and
the Translations tab. On the bottom, select the new options.
- Support for transparent images
has been implemented.
- The BorderWidth property works
in forms.
- Microsoft Glossary file (.csv)
contains a single character for the ellipsis … (0x2026)
instead of three single dots. Sisulizer now removes those characters
when importing to the translation memory.
- Sisulizer now pseudo translates
message pattern strings.
- Support for Seram machine translator
has been added.
- TCoolBar component now has
automatic mapping.
- You can set a minimum string width
that will restrict the string to be autotranslated.
For example value 3 means that all string length of 2 or less
will not be autotranlated.
- Export wizard can now export the selected languages
of the currently selected node.
- If Windows binary source contains untranslated
binary resources like BITMAPS, CURSORS, and ICONS Sisulizer
asks to exclude them after loading a project. This makes the
project file as small as possible and much faster to
open and save. On new projects all binary resources
are excluded by default.
- Proxy server support
added.
- Reading Sisulizer project files is now faster.
- Sisulizer now comes with an advanced error
handling system with integrated bug reporting.
Extended Automation for Better Integration in Build Process
- The validate command has been
added to SlMake.
- The build command has been
added as a synonym for create in SlMake.
- The fillpseudo and removepseudo
tasks have been added to SlMake.
- SlAddRes.exe command line tool
added to Sisulizer installation. Tool can be used to add embedded
resources to applications.
Better Overall Value
- The new Standard edition
is the ideal solution for µISVs (MicroISVs). It has everything
a small company needs to localize software while fitting in
even smallest budgets at the same time. And
Sisulizer allows you to grow. If you have advanced needs to
software localization the upgrade to the higher
Sisulizer edition is just a few mouse clicks away. Upgrading
to higher edition always comes at a fair price. You just
pay
the difference price of the editions at the time of your upgrade.
- The new Translator Edition
is for all translators who need more features than in the Free
Edition. Especially the ability to build projects
was an often heard customer request. If you have branches around
the globe responsible for their localized binaries the new Translator
Edition is the right choice. And the Translator Edition comes
at a very attractive price!
- The translator Edition of Version 2008 can
create and use shared translation memories.
- Sisulizer now can run from any removable
device (e.g. thumb drive) and DVD/CD.
Sisulizer 2008 comes with support for three different spell
and grammar checking engines.
- Polar spell-checker
Dictionaries for 14
languages (English (US), English (UK) Czech,
Danish, German, Spanish, French, Croatian, Italian, Dutch,
Polish,
Russian, Slovenian, Swedish) are included in the
Sisulizer distribution.
- Hunspell spell-checker
Dictionaries are the same used by OpenOffice, Mozilla
FireFox and others. Dictionaries for approximately
100
languages are available for free from here.
- Lingsoft proofing tools for Sisulizer localization software
Spell-checker and grammar
checker available in Danish, Finnish,
Norwegian (Bokmål), and Swedish. Also available is a spell-checker
for Norwegian (Nynorsk).
These dictionaries must be purchased
separately from Lingsoft.
