.NET—The future of programming
With Microsoft® .NET, many things in the life of a programmer became
easier. The .NET name space is a paradise for developers, reducing
their time and costs of software development. From the moment
.NET is shipped with Windows®, all excuses to avoid using it will disappear. So be ready and start now. Sisulizer
is here to support your .NET projects that require software localization.
The good news: Localization just got easier with .NET.
It has automatic UNICODE support for strings
and interface elements (GUI), making .NET the ideal platform for
international software projects. For the .NET developer, UNICODE techniques
mean saying goodbye to code pages and time-consuming
conversions.
Since .NET 3 developers have two options:
- Windows Forms / ResX.
These new resource files are the successor of classic .res-files
and exist in .NET since version 1. Just mark your forms as "localizable" and
.NET does the rest. Sisulizer fully supports Windows Forms
with an own WYSIWYG engine.
- WPF + Silverlight / XAML + ResX. This user interface markup language is a new standard
used by the .NET's Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) technology. Sisulizer V2008 comes with full
support for WPF and has a brand new WYSIWYG engine.
Together RESX/XAML and UNICODE make .NET the ideal platform for software
localization projects. Sisulizer adds the full spectrum of possibilities
that only a state-of-the-art software localization tool can
offer—to
make your .NET localization experience a pleasure.
Silverlight localization never was easier
At Tech-Ed EMEA 2008 in Barcelona Sisulizer presented full Silverlight localization
support. The Silverlight support is available in Sisulizer 2008
from Build
275 to all our customers. Sisulizer reads .xap files
and create localized versions from it. This is what we at Sisulizer
call a perfect localization experience.
Full WYSIWYG
With Sisulizer, you or your translator localize your complete
.NET project in binary what-you-see-is-what-you-get, or WYSIWYG,
mode.
Background Info

Binary localization
If you are new to software localization, you will often
read about binary localization. But what does binary mean
in this context?
Binary localization reads all strings that should be localized
from the compiled application. This is
possible because modern Windows programming systems store
dialog boxes, menus, shortcuts, and strings in what is called
"resources". Resources are special sections in
the compiled program that systems can read without de-compiling
the binary file. Sisulizer can perfectly read and
write these sections without touching the
program code.

You see all visual components like menus, dialog boxes,
user controls, icons, and bitmaps
in Sisulizer's visual editor.

.NET dialog box in Microsoft Visual Studio®

This is what we mean by WYSIWYG: The same
dialog box in Sisulizer's visual editor. The red color marks elements
to be translated.
Sisulizer comes with dozens of predefined mappings for user
and third party controls making the WYSIWYG experience
complete. You can define more mappings for new
and unknown controls. Custom properties are also
supported like string, icon and picture resources. Optional Assembly
linker parameters allow to sign assemblies and make them strong-named and much more.
Visual Studio® and Borland® Developer Studio support
Sisulizer supports Visual Studio and Borland
Developer Studio project files up to the latest versions.
This means that, if you localize at the RESX level, you do not have to specify
all .resx files. Point Sisulizer to your project or solution file
and our software automatically finds all files needed for localization.

Free Edition does not need .NET runtime
While you, as a developer, have the .NET runtime and SDK on your
computer, you know that your translator might not have it installed.
With Sisulizer, this is not a problem, because your translators
do not need to install the huge .NET runtime application on their computers.
All files your translator needs, including the Sisulizer
Free Edition, are included in one small exchange file.
This saves a lot of time so that your translator can concentrate
100% of the time on translating your software, instead of installing
huge runtime files.
Of course, the Free Edition has full WYSIWYG
support, built-in translation memory, and many
more great time savers. Of course, your translator does
not need to see your sources.
You deserve Sisulizer's finest .NET
quality support if you are going to localize .NET and Silverlight
applications.
